The Question ...

Backgammon hacking/game enhancement codes/Microsoft Zone.com gaming?

I have been playing backgammon close to 37 years, and I am rated as a master in Las Vegas. I play backgammon in the free microsoft On-Line gaming in their Zone.com. It wasn't free! I paid for the software and the Internet connection monthly, so don't even say it is free. There is nothing free in this forum, we all are aware of that, and so on. The rolls are impossible for some of these players on a regular everyday basis. I have had my pieces moved backwards on my playing board. I have watched the dice change right in front of my face after they were already rolled. The oponants that are doing this don't even bother to square up or block, and always leave their men wide open, and you can't touch them. My point is this really is irritating, and there is no integrity to this type of play. I know that I am being cheated, and I know that I am not the only player that has noticed this, and has experienced this. I have read other articles about the same situation that are dated several years back. I want some type of equality in a fair playing forum. I can't find a site to complian to the server about the problem, they just ignore it. One of you "GUYS" could definately make a big profit by coming up with anti-game enhancement spyware/antivirus to stop this sort of thing from going on. A lot of people would be willing to pay anything for it to just get even with these "GUYS" that cheat. I don't have to cheat to win; I know the board and the game at a very high level. So my question is: Do I have to stoop to their level and download game enhancement cheat-codes to compeat with losers, to be able to play backgammon ON-LINE? This problem is really bad, and I am not even kidding. StephenVest@sbcglobal.net

The Answer ...

Stephen,
I was playing a rated backgammon match barely 30 minutes ago when my opponent with the nic "ZeroTolerance49" turned out to be a cheat/hacker. Here's what happened:

1) After he was timed out of the first game, he magically re-appeared while the second game with the Computer as my opponent was in progress.
2) I doubled the stake during the second game, he rejected it, then he posted the following message:"I hate dblers especially when ahead, but I'm glad u did it, because under that condition, I'll use the glich to end-up the match, lets watch that, it's coming very soon & perhaps, if u're bright enough, u wont ever dble up opponents! ... lol ... "
3) Soon afterwards, the message flashed across my screen indicating that I had lost the match!

Obvioulsy this sonofabitch ZeroTolerance49 has been doing this for some time as the same thing happened twice before. I have sent a complaint to the Zone support. Hopefully, they will fix the glitch ASAP, if indeed there was one.

Since my first post above, I've encountered other hackers who pulled the same trick -- winning matches through various tricks, including running the clock against me when it wasn't even my turn to move, and giving himself 5 points to win the match. Here are the nicknames of the other hackers, possibly they're one and the same idiot:
1) Sofia_In_Chains
2) Hamamah5

I have reported the matter thru Feedback on the Zone and offering to email screenshots of the unfortunate events. I've yet to be contacted by Microsoft.

Why are there so many bad sports on mibackgammon if they are losing they just cut the connection tossers

Add Bin_Ladin_3 to your list of cheaters who magically give themselves 5 pts and win. I too have reported the issue to the zone master with no avail.

I also had a similar encounter with zerotolerance49. I don't quite understand why these folks enjoy doing this. It just strikes me as very immature and dull. I would be happy to also email zone.msn.com if that would help but it appears that it does not.

I love backgammon and I am so tired of the poor sportsmanship. Losers leave...winners stay until they start to lose. What happened to the part of the game that was about enjoyment and skill? I only play on MSN backgammon but that is frustrating enough. I notice that players from Turkey and England really hate to lose. Maybe its time to go back to the real board and real players?

Was investigating this exact situation as it just happend to me and I was pissed!

Situation: Doubled my opponent in the second game, opponent stalled, I put "the clock" on him/her, he/she finally rejected the double. Next game I was booted a couple rolls in with a message stating I "canadawest has lost the match because he took too long"

I have now lost all interest in Zone Backgammon if it's that easy for people to cheat and cost me matches (and rating!)

If anyone finds a solution or counter for this issue, please feel free to contact me.

Software problem is that wrong countdown timer is ticking when you wait for your opponent to accept/decline doubling cube. Silly programming bug of M$. I only wonder why they can not fix it for years...

I had a different problem with ZeroTolerance49. After I doubled the cube in the first game, he lost and then start to stalling the second game. The countdown clock never started. ZeroTolerance49 wanted me to quit and lose the math.

I too am pi**ed at the bullsh*t that goes on at Zone backgammon and am boycotting the game entirely..there are numerous other games out there let the cheaters play with their "snowie" program cheats and may the best cheater win!
I have reported this numerous times to Zone and they do absolutely NOTHING!!!! the feedback site is just there to let us vent that is all.

Does the program pick on newbies? I just started playing MSN Backgammon on Friday and no matter how well I play, the dice are always against me. I can never get my stats above winning two games. How do I keep the dice from favoring the other guy?

I like the simple on-line backgammon game included with Win XP. I have been playing a lot for about 4 years. Quitters are quitters, but there doesn't seem to be any real cheating. I can't get an install for any other MS operating system though. Probably because they want you to use the zone game. Chatting on the Win XP game is limited to canned stuff and you can turn it off. There are no ratings (you rate yourself as Beginner, intermediate or expert and the computer searches for matches against players who rate themselves the same) and there are no timers. The bottom line is that sometimes you beat good players, and sometimes you loose to what appear to be bad players. Sometimes they roll doubles 4 times in a row, and sometimes you do. It's anonymous with three point matches and a doubling cube. I would appreciate if anyone knows how to port the XP game to Vista or Win2K. It ain't fancy, just backgammon.

Gosh, I hadn't realised about hacking but have certainly experienced some extremely unlikely dice. I've seen the clock appear and time out someone whose turn it isn't, but that's sometimes been me and soemtimes my opponent. I'm as much use as a chocolate fireguard when it comes to computing matters, so cannot explain that.

As to the worst losers...? Certainly the Turks are, but the worst in my experience are Americans. Sore losers, and often offensive with it. Players from England bad losers? You're kidding, Emma. They invented good sportsmanship.

Be interested to know of any better backgammon software. Tried Yahoo, wasn't too sure about it.

I would consider myself to be an expert backgammon player. Yes, cheaters DO EXIST on MSN backgammon. I don't know how they're doing it. My suggestion -- keep your game tight. Don't leave any pips open if you can avoid it -- that drives them crazy. Since the game administration chooses to do nothing about this -- just click out of the game when they start rolling double 6's -- 4 in a row.

I had a similar issue earlier today. The lady i was playing was a typical bad sport, not resigning and waiting for the last moment to bear off a peice to avoid gammon, just taking the mick basically. Well i was already winning 2-0 and i had doubled and about to go 4-0 ahead, but the lady stalled on the last move and played with a few seconds to go. 2nd or possibly 3rd move into the next game it says i lost for taking too long. lady posts a smily face and exits. SO ANNOYING! is there any way to prevent thing from happenning?

Yes, I have occasionally encountered hackers on Microsoft/Zone backgammon site. But the biggest cheater of them all is MSN/Zone itself by not providing "random" dice. After playing thousands of games, and also being a scientist, I know the dice are non-random most of the time. The dice you get depend on the situation on the board. Now, THIS IS NOT BACKGAMMON. Maybe they should rename themselves "MicroCheat" instead - just a suggestion. My experience from MSN backgammon has forced me not to buy any serious software with MSN label because I can no longer trust them.

I am with you all on the fact that they need to bring xp's online backgammon to vista..
It's really frustration that you can't buy it or something.
I have tried some of the other online games.. wasn't impressed and did notice the cheating scam you referred to.. Frustrating!!
I even bought one in the store but, it's slow and not very fun.. Amazing how the old one was simple, didn't have all the chatting or slowness to it: yet they don't continue it with vista.
Probably wouldn't be such a big deal if I hadn't grown so addicted to it.. LOL
Well, I've vented.. Don't know if I feel any better after reading and realizing I can't get my game back.. But, none the less.. I have vented....

Definitely some cheats available for the dice in free MS Backgammon. Had situation where opponent was way down, doubled? then suddenly all dice went his way, not one bad or mediocre throw, and all my throws were apalling.

Also hate the quitters, such bad manners.

I'm not sure about the backgammon game that comes with XP.
I have been playing it thousands of times for several years
and i´m pretty sure that some are able to hack this also and I'm also sure that the rolls not are randomly.

About random rolls i think, maybe the player are identified by IP-adress and the software adjusts the roles according to a registred level by microsoft hidden for the player, but made by microsoft like a handicap system as known from golf so that not so good players can compet with skilled players.
This is off course not something i have any evidense off but a theory i've come up with.

I have come up with this theory because it's only about 5% of the times i can come out in the first role after i've got a checker hit, and that even when the opponent only has one block i his homeland.
Even worse is it when there are 3 ore 4 blocks, then i typically needs 4 - 6 rolls before i am out again.
I know that this hangs together with luck/unluck but when it happens so offen i think that something i wrong.

About hacking the game, i have several times crossed the same English player, I'm pretty sure it's the same player, by his style, and his comments, and the way he acts.
This player is ekstremly lucky (or cheating), i consider my self as an expert player, but he leaves his checkers wide open even in his own homeland and my rolls very selden hits them, and if i just leave one open its hit almost instantly.
This is a guy that when i meet him i often play him as long as possible to try and figure out whether he is a ekstremly skilled player or just lucky, and i can't seem
that he is that good, and i'm amazed over his luck, his not a bad player but no one can be that lucky every game.

Normally you can't win games with to many checkers wide open, sometimes offcource it can be a powerful tool especially when having problems in a game, but doing it on a regulary base will only make you lose.

It would be very nice when someone could find out whether anyone can hack the backgammon XP ore confirm my expiriences.

if there was away to know a player wasnt cheating then like the good old days i would enjoy hours of satisfying and competetive backgammon, sadly sometimes im just rude because now it seems that even when i win the first game im left with a feeling of my dice being manipulated, and sure enough in the next game im impossibly thrashed. i read about the english expert who never covers always doubles and with relish and nastiness never loses. i have played this disgusting person snd right now he dominates the game along with ABOUT 15 OTHER MAJOR CHEATS. the turkish, greek, italian GERMAN, russian, spanish, japanese, hebrew, polish, danish, french, portugese experts have all proven to me that they are nothing but cheats. play anyone of these players and you will be offended at the lack of skill, the slow delay playing, the incredibly stupid open play luck and the arrogance.

OMG I was just on MSN backgammon and was up 4-0 and this dude took a breather and sent me a message stating "it's a good day to die" followed by a smiley face. I just assumed he was getting king of hot because he had lost 2 games straight on his own doublings, but nooooooooo i was soooo wrong. what he really meant was it was time for me to die, and so i did.......he paused then suddenly i get the message that i had lost because the time ran out. then the message stating that my connection to the server had failed! I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo upset !!!

So sad and deluded.

NO ONE IS CHEATING AT INTERNET BACKGAMMON.

The "luck" engine that Microsoft use is clunky and not very random but it is never biassed.

Intermediate players will win first roll against Expert 9 out of 10 games. BAD LUCK. Play at the same level.

If you want to complain about the manners of people on the server begin by reflecting on yout own ignorant, stupid accusations of cheating. Sometimes the luck is not with you GROW UP!

I play about a hundred games a day at Zone.com and record every game opening throw and result. NO ONE IS CHEATING

If you don't think people cheat on MSN backgammon, you are a fool. There is a method that has been used twice on me. The other player starts losing, so on their turn, they start taking back and replaying the same move over. When the timer starts, they move. They do that for three or four moves until the game hangs and YOU get disconnected for not making a move in time, even though it is still their turn.

So, wake up, Graham, their are cheaters that take advantage of poor MS programming.

There are plenty of other cheats I'm sure, these are the most obvious. Hopefully, you will have one happen to you first hand so you can quit saying their isn't any cheating.

There is.

Try not to take it personally as that just makes you out to be an egotistical moron.

WOW i have some really nice gammon hackers for you all today. these boys are GOOOOOOD !
First we have: (Sleek_Cat0) This bad boy timed me out of the game there was nothing i could do to stop him.

Next we have (swissmiss2781) I have to admit i like the way this one cheated, i know, i know that is crazy but it was like WOW WOW WOW ! she would actually tell me what she was going to roll before she rolled and/or which chip she was going to knock off before rolling ! she was a true badazz.

last we have (Uncool_Panther) this dude was kind of boring until i had him down 4 wins to his 0. He stalled the entire set, a good 45 minute game. everytime he came back from stalling it was of course a double 5 or 6. until the very last game, i had him 4 to 0 and he doubled every single time and won that game then every game after that until he won the set. the doubles he rolled were mind blowing.

Again those were:

I've just had it happen to me as well. I was playing a guest (first mistake). I was up 4-0 when, right in front of my eyes, the dice changed. I lost that game and eventually timed out and lost the match due to my opponent stalling at the end of every game.

I'm not sure how the process of him stalling managed to time me out, but that is exactly what happened.

Graham, your comments sound very much like the noises this guy was making.

I cant tell you how may times I am accused of cheating just because I get a few lucky rolls. In case you haven't noticed backgammon is about half luck and about half skill. When I get some one who starts to lose and then accuses me of cheating, I play it to the hilt. (i.e. "give me a few secs while I enter my dbl 6 code") Please dont stop the paranoia, it makes the game just that much more fun for me...

Lolo

I noticed in MS Backgammon (XP) that the dice change if you are winning. XP backgammon has 3 game matches with a doubling die and "random dice". As noticed by others.. Bugs are there, especially at roll time. Sometimes it will flash up a roll for you, but then blank the die and make you roll again. Cutting internet connection is a seen behaviour for losers. But not that common. I mean, why bother?

But the funniest behaviour is with the program. I have often noticed that the more aggressive player, who also makes safe, will get a 2-0 lead. The early dice will usually determine which player this is. Bad play will often get punished, as you would expect. But if the program likes your game, and you find yourself 2-0 down, then imagine getting 8 doubles of six in a row. Amazing? Yes, but easy to explain. I had blocked my opponents' 6 pin, and all his other pieces were safe in his home zone. So the program kept trying to help him out by rolling another double-six. Except he couldn't move it. So it just kept rolling them. Eventually I had to move the blocking pieces out of the way (to get them into my home area, and it continued giving him double sixes until he was home, and arithmetically ahead in take-offs.

The chances of that sequence happening are so small, that it is several orders of magnitude more likely that the dice are not random, but can have a favourite. Everyone knows that computers are notoriously difficult to program with true randomness. Random.org uses a capture program linked to a radio receiver which scans unused frequencies (background radio emissions anyone?). That's probably as random as anyone can get. But if you are making a game, why not reward good play and, even on occasion, support the underdog.

I think the answer is that we are just not supposed to take these games too seriously. When I do, I'll remember the guy that got eight double-sixes in a row, when I was 2-0 up. And, maybe you'll agree, that's the moment it always happens.

James Murray, Oxford
August 2009
Odds:
Two doubles in a row: 36 to 1
Three doubles in a row: 216 to 1
Four doubles in a row: 1,296 to 1
Eight doubles in a row: 1,679,616 to 1

Is this right?

Mind you, it assumes any doubles. Straight double-sixes are even less likely. It has to be suspicious though, in terms of random number distribution.

James Murray, Oxford (again)
August 2009
Finn.
I too have encountered this English player. His style and attitude make him unique especially when he takes the same high risk chances and follows it up with back to back doubles. I've also found he doubles almost every game within the first 3 rolls. There seems to be some sort of bug or cheap that occurs by waiting on your next roll of the dice, except for me. I'm an expert player and an avid watcher of repeated rolls where the propabilty of roll has to be in the thousands. I'd like to know what they are running. I've played backgammon.com and had another player admit he was running a cheating tool against me, when I tried to press him to what it was, he dropped of the game.

Graham.
You're a naive idiot. If you think players aren't finding ways to cheat. Why do hackers hack? Because they can.

hi you all
meby this will help agains cheaters
on the button roll are cheats already in the game only you have to now where to put your mouse.
get numbers the way you want.
first to left to right on the roll button
you four sides on the roll button.
from the left the higher numbers en the right lowe numbers
nex cheat.
for instence if number four on the dice you have to click above roll button to get four again.
but first befor you roll click the counter number on the dice
2=4 6=1 5=2 2=5 you get it.
the doubles are on leftside of the button and right also from 1 to 6
try it out its hard to do it but it works
another strategy is
leave always 2 stones on 3 and 5 in anemy terytory haha
i always win whit.
and the always double and get 2 points and the last 3 third game i win 3 points you see because the think you have stones on their side but they dont figure out they always most come home make sure you put many stones on your side when doing this so when they have to come its time to snap their stones of the board and they can`t come in you have block 1 2 3 4 5 and 6 remember befor they trow click the number like 2 ore 3 but never click 3 and 4 and 6 this wil give the player 4 and that is what you dont want to have remember do it when aponent dice is rolling and click number like a bove then you will see.this how snowie wont work.
i played agains turkey and britisch people and try to cheat but it dont work.
a good player can`t lose they can only cheat whit time and dice tthats al folks but never they can win agains good strategy agains.
i call the strategy dronken monkey play because you have to play like that.
some times you have to give to two ore stones.
this my advice to you all from the treu master backgammon.
this my onw strategy i play every day xp backgommon whit no clock 96% of the games i win how use my strategy

I do not doubt that there are cheaters out there. I never play rated games so I am not sure I have ever encountered them that often. Although I think maybe I have. There have been some times (plural), when I have started to move for a dice throw I got (or thought I got) to realize it was one number off. I just thought it was me, but apparently not.

I do not believe it is a hack, but a major issue with MSN is double sixes when on the bar, I have seen it just as often with my opponents so I do not think it is a hack, rather a programming "error".

Graham is truly an idiot (or more likely one of the cheaters).

Sorry Finn, IMHO, you are a little delusional, (or a conspiracy theorist). I do not mean to offend you and perhaps you are right, but I think your theory is WAY out there. I could be wrong though.

James Murray, "why not reward good play, and on occasion support the underdog?" Because it is supposed to be an unbiased, fair, sportsman like game.

Mitch, I do not want to offend, I assume English is not your native tongue, but I wish your English and or typing skills were better, because I would be interested in testing your MSN programmed dice "cheats". Not so much to cheat but to see if they work. If so I would boycott MSN altogether. I assume it is a fair game (except the barring off), but maybe I am the one who is naive.

Thanks all, for a good read and some good thoughts. Time to do some more research.

This game frustrates the heck out of me. I've played 5 matches and in each the opponent would consistently get doubles upon doubles. I counted on average 3 doubles in a row for the opponent and in one game he had 6 doubles in a row! 6! That's not right. People are obviously rigging this game to their benefit.

Hardly ever does someone from England, without a cheat code lose, they simply quit if they get behind. I also noticed this on internet reversi.

The cheat codes area obvious when they get behind and roll consecutive doubles and you are unable to get any sort of useful roll.

This is on the regular internet backgammon that came with windows XP. It makes it hardly worth playing.

Really , is backgammon so full for sore losers that everyone quits when they get behind? I think it is so odd, it;s not like we are playing for some valuable prize!

Here's a hint. If someone rolls 3 doubles in 4 rolls, they have some cheat code.

Yeh I figure it was either MS or somehow a lot of people figured out how to cheat.

Just today I had a player over 30 points behind me, due to his own endlessly going out of his way to knock back one stone of mine in his home then I knock him back all the way to my home.

He then rolled 3 double sixes in a row. 36:1 ^3. 46,656:1
Possible, yes, rare yes. But It has happened a dozen times in the last 2 months.

Also I have noticed that when there is an 18:1 chance of getting an exact roll, my opponent get that roll 90% of the time. Against thosesame players I find that if ther is a 36:1 chance of me having no legal moves that happens more than 50% of the time. One time I needed anything but a 1 and a 3. These were the only illegal moves (1-3,1-1,3-1,3-3). 4 possible rolls out of 36, my next 5 rolls were 1-3,1-3,3-1,3-3,1-3. The next roll after that he got a double 5, which gave me any combination of 1,3,5,6. Being illegal moves. (2-2,2-4,4-2,4-4) the only possible moves. I got 6-6. The next move he had all but 4 filled in. I rolled a four and was able to take one and put it in the position. He then got a 2-2, and knocked me out and filled up the 4 position. then I just quit.

Sorry but I don't mind losing but I will not play against a player who rolls the exact number he needs every time.

Either MS has all the numbers rigged to make sure one player can't lose (uless they make huge mistakes) and that player is never me.

Has anyone but me gotten a roll, but the game wouldn't let me make the move I wanted. For example yesterday I had two pieces next to each other. A 1 would allow me to take one and cover the other. I got a 1 and a 5. But the game would not allow me to move that piece one to cover the other piece, but it would allow me to move that same piece 5 to an open spot. And it would allow me to move many other pieces 1 so long as they ended up open but I could not cover any stones.

I too have run into the problem of rolling a number and as I started to move it some othe number comes up. This happens a lot on initial rolls.

The reason that this may have happened is because you have to take both rolls if possible. So if you could move the one to cover the other tile, but not be able to move another tile five spaces the game was right in not letting you do that.

XP version seemed fair (but slow, obviously) for a long time....until the past couple of months. Basically have seen all the mathematical impossibilities mentioned above.

Has anyone actually figured out what Mitch (above) was saying -- regarding hitting the roll button in different places to affect the dice outcome??

Why are we complaining about each other? The biggest unashamed cheat in thie backgammon game is ZONE itself - or rather MSN itself - rather their programmers. Nothing is true and decent about this site. It is a FAKE, HIGHLY DOCTORED DICE program .. run by the CROOKS and LIARS. If MSN is so dishonest in a lousy internet game, how could you and I trust them with our real money and holding onto their stocks? It is time to make them realize that cheating and lieing is not RIGHT - not just for their VIP's but also for their programmers and managers. But they keep doing it and are also very proud of doing it.

The problem with the Online Backgammon game that comes with MS Windows is the very same problem as with their Texas Hold'em game: The cards and the dice are NOT RANDOM. These games have been programmed to be "action makers". Microsoft thinks that adds to the fun of the game, but in the long run it just frustrates players and makes them stop playing.

I just played MSN Backgammon, and was 70 points ahead and somehow my opponent got four double-6s, and then two double 5's to win the game. It seems MSN is rigged to always make a "miraculous" comeback when they're being slaughtered. It just seems absurd that I've lost three games in a row with massive leads and completely improbable rolls.

Professional gammon players laugh at MSN's well known cheat caddies. Almost all Flash based joke sites have available cheats. 14 doubles sixes in one game aren't uncommon. It is clear as day to a pro when novice players who consistently make basic mistakes win matches by virtue of fixed dice. This is nothing but a joke site for a bunch of frustrated losers who can only kid themselves with a phony artificial rating!

I had a player shut down the game on me today, the window went snowy at first then dissapeared. I had just made a big comeback and was probably going to beat him. Anyone else had this experience? what bothers me most is they may be hacking into your computer while you are playing them, should I be concerned?

You can't even get a good game anymore. Regarding the MS Internet BG, it's not only the French, it's the Turkish, the Italians, Germans, English, beginners, intermediates, experts, everyone. Everyone quits! I get a good game on there maybe once a week and I play every morning drinking my coffee. Why do you double me on the second roll then QUIT when I kick your butt? Just keep playing or resign and play another game. Or STOP doubling on the second roll. How about NOT doubling at all? The doubling cube was originally used when playing for money. So why double? How stupid can you be to double when the game has barely started? And why quit when you are playing a superior player? Why can't you continue on and maybe LEARN something from the superior player? No - you think quiting is more fun. So you go on and play someone else and quit on that poor person too. I love to play this game - when I encounter an equal opponent, and they play with me through wins and losses, it's alot of fun - it's what Microsoft intended when they developed this game and gave it to us free with Windows. Not to just keep quiting until you get in a game that you're winning. Yeah, some of you think winning is everything. But there's alot of us who appreciate a challenge. So I say bring it on...Challenge me and QUIT QUITTING!

I should have also said that there'e no cheating on MS Internet Backgammon that I can see and I've been playing for years. There's just really bad rolls or really good rolls and a good player can make the best of both. Quit complaining and learn how to beat an opponent who rolls X number of doubles (whatever they may be) in a row. YOU CAN DO IT!!! Superior play CAN beat doubles.

Why is Backgammon so addictive? I have only been playing for a short time, but it is difficult to quit.

I also see a lack of randomness in the XP game. I have played the Zone game a couple of times and have noticed that some players just crush you.

Still - I can't seem to quit (and I am not a compulsive person!).

I have seen so many people who are sore losers, cutting out when you are beating them, which is annoying.

I often get accused of cheating, which is normally by a not very good player.

I appologise when MSN gives me loads of doubles on the trot.

MSN says that their dice are random, but we are pulling out of a "pool" of all the players, and this is why you can get lots of double sixes on the bounce. I sniff the air at this stage.

I have had the people who wait to have the timer put on them each time, wanting you to resign. They are idiots, but not cheats.

However, i have had the thing where the guy is stalling and then next thing you know the clock is on me. They are cheats.

I also had a game once where I was down to one man and the other guy had all 15 left. He got the one to hit me, and then there were six double sixes on the bounce and i lost the game. Statistcally that is odds of over 2000 billion to one, so I feel that is cheating.

Then there are the others who just abuse you saying things like "I hope your mother dies" I have great pleasue to tell them they are too late on that one, but some stuff is very sick.

It spoils what should actually be a nice way to pass the odd 10 minutes here or there.

He was stalling through the game and then had one piece left, and I had to put the timer on him to bear off.

So I said "Are you setting it up so i lose at the start of the next turn.

Sure enough, I rolled a double six start and got the "You have lost the game"

So he made a GM and then said it was a stupid site. I just called him a cheat.

I don't mind losing. Just want it to be a fair loss.

The dice are not all random. I often get a streak where I would win something like a dozen matches (not games) in a row, including matches against strong players, then, no matter what I do, I'd lose the next dozen matches in a row, including matches against weak players. The rolls are almost predictable. It is too funny.

I've played on another website where this never happens. MSN Zone cannot be taken seriously.

I've been called a cheat - I don't cheat I have nothing down loaded to cheat, I don't push the time, I don't stall but I've played plenty of players that have (i usually block them straight up). I've been called a cheat if get 2 doubles in a row - any good gammon player knows that dbles don't necessarily win the game! I get call a cheat if I win, I get called a cheat if I land on my opponents piece, I get call a cheat because they play bad. Can't win - just roll my eyes. I'm sure there are those that play the system, but I do get annoyed when every sore loser/winner out there uses it as an excuse for their losses.

I just get on the game to play because I enjoy backgammon. The zone is terrible for sore losers and sore winners alike. Some of the comments made are truely offensive and so unbelievably childish.

People should should just show some good grace and not assume the worst of everyone, but rather MSN's pathetic dice and software!

of course no free online backgammon works with random rolls. it is embarrassingly obvious. and why should they run a true randomizer? after all they are commercial sites, players are customers (ads, banners). so they have to avoid frustration, especially of weaker players, else they wouldn't return, resulting in fewer 'customers'. they also have to keep games in suspense, make players stay longer to watch ads. and of yourse they don't care about cheaters, stallers, foulmouthed idiots with poor vocabulry, bugs - all well calculated parts of the game. and very succesfull - as can be seen in this blog, lol. hello, my friends, back to the table to play with real people, roll the dice with your own hands and enjoy no longer being a puppet on a manipulating dice program's strings.....

I am convinced that our windows internet backgammon has flaws that allow people to cheat. I found them myself by making a chart of the roll oval. If you put your curser in certain places, you can roll the same #'s over and over. I have tried it and it works. This is game also seems to be screwed up bad. Sometimes the dice won't quit rolling and other times they won't come back up at all. It's frustrating as hell. You can tell when someone is getting ready to do this cheat sometimes, like when you have them on the bar and they take awhile to roll, and then they roll a double whatever and get all three pips off on the only opening left them. I figure they have found the spot to roll that and you have to be very precise in placing your curser to get the roll.I know about this, but only tried it to see if that what was happening. I am convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt now that this is happening. Too bad. I still play on my real board a lot and I know something about the odds of a roll. One other little peeve I have after reading this blog. Every time it says "English" doesn't mean your playing someone from England. It just means the person speaks English. They can be from anywhere. You don't see Scottish, or Irish players do you. They are English speaking too...I'm glad I still have my real board to compare to or I'd be falling for some of this cheating and feel terrible about my abilities as an expert player.Nuff. I am an expert player as well and have been playing for over 20 years. I won't even go to the zone. I tried it once and was absolutely disgusted. I stick to free internet backgammon and just deal with it. I know for a fact it has some really horrible programming.. the dice. *groans*

I usually don't mind it because one match it may be in my favor and then the next match my opponent's. That's fine. The only time I will quit a game is if I'm being so obviously cheated and the other player starts putting smiley faces as if they are just too awesome. Yeah, I'll quit on losers like that.

I know about the doubling glitch and it really makes me angry when people try to use it in order to win. Sometimes they succeed, but I'm not a shabby player and using vicious strategy, I usually (about 70%) of the time will find a way to use it against them and still manage to win.

I know that there are SOME people out there that do use obvious cheats.. I have seen them, but I don't think most people do. I just quit those matches and find someone else to play.

Hi, I'm only ok at Backgammon, but pretty good at maths. Some of the rather hysterical posters on this site need to get a feel for big number and probability theory. Throwing the same dice combination two, three, four times in a row is not a biggie. It probably happens to you more often than you are aware, but you register three double 6's in a row more readily that say 4 and 5 three times. Same psychology applies to the delusion that the dice are rigged to give your opponent the perfect role when they need it. Killer throws just leave more of an impression. Timing out, quitting, etc .. this may be cheating and is certainly bad manners, but I really can't see evidence of rigged dice.

Please don't be one of the people who think that if you throw good dice it's luck, if they do, it's cheating.

By the way, a pedantic point: The word 'odds' as used in gambling of any kind, referes to the ratio of win / lose possibilities. So throwing one die, your 'odds' are actually expressed as 5 to 1 .. meaning 5 possible outcomes that do not get the result you wanted, and 1 that does. The 'probability' of getting a six with one throw is expressed as '1 in 6'. This is why the 'odds' of getting a head in a coin toss are commonly expressed as 'evens' i.e. 1 to 1, the probability is 1 in 2.

The 'odds' of getting a double six with 2 dice are therefore 35 to 1, not 36 to 1 as people tend to say.

Lecture over!

Get a clue. These cheaters are Zone engineers. This is why the cheats are not being cleared up. They are well aware of the cheats, and never do anything. Just find those cheats and use them against the cheaters. Turn about has always been fair play. Just mark them and keep a list. Use the cheats against the cheaters, and perhaps this will eventually make them give up. Besides if you can beat a cheat while you play fairly, you will only become better. Just know your enemy.

the time out cheat is an easy one. Ping your opponents ip address with a ip trace program and have it set to repeatedly ping about 1500 times per minute. It will eat up enough bandwidth to block their connection to the server or at least block enough of it to look like they are not playing. Some one tried to do this to me. About 10 minutes ago. I had an off site web page ping them so fiercely they got popped before I could. And since their ip trace program could not get anough bandwidth I was left in the clear and they timed themselves out. Turn about is ALWAYS fair play!

i've been playing on the zone site for a few years, and have seen dice change in front of my face, and been timed out when its not my turn, as well as the other person being timed out and coming back into the game further on in the game, so i know cheats are on there and if anybody things there are not....well youre wrong
i have just been timed out by someone, who as a GUEST had played 147 games and had a rating of 2230, all i will say is that, if the rating looks to good (they have played few games but have very high ratings) they most likely the are cheating, and i stay away from them....
also you'll will find these cheats will start calling you a cheat/slow player and slag you off for no reason and then try to justify them cheating, and most will tell you they are going to do it, like they're proud of it...
best tings to do is find some good players and buddy up with them and it'll be safe.

I consider myself to be an expert backgammon player. I only play on the xp site. If I play 10 people in a night at least 6 of them will quit before they finish the match. I have learned to write them off as weak players tired of losing. Every so often I get a good player and then can really enjoy the match. Lately it seems some people are able to manipulate the dice. I will finish the match against them and then get a new opponent. I have learned to shrug off the quitters and cheaters and play for the good matches.

There is one particular cheat that I'm seeing more and more. Thats when your opponent rolls a "one" and then moves his piece back and forth very quickly. This somehow turns the clock back on you, but you can't do anything about it and you time out. Most of time these loser tell you "have fun" or "thanks for the points". When a programmer or team of programmers are designing game software it becomes nessesary to add "control code" to force certain outcomes to occure at each players turn. This development technique enables on the spot observations of board travel in acordinance to the rules of the game as well as the fluidity and appearance of movement. An example of this procedure would be to enact an exact roll of dice such as 1-6.

Rather than wait an unknown number of rolls until the random seed produces the needed outcome a programmer simply enters a hidden keystroke to "force" the disired result.

Within the game of MS Internet Backgammon this control was placed in twenty-one 2x3 pixel locations along the border of the Return Button.

This code is usually removed once the application has been thoroughly tested and approved. Unfortunately in the case of this particular game it was inadvertantly left in.

If you are one of the pathetic creatins that has wasted the enormous ammount of trial and error time it would take to locate each indiviual hot spot, then you are indeed a lonely simpleton. Get a life or better yet get therapy. If you do, then there is hope that one day you will be able to leave your mothers basement and go out into the real world.

HOW TO GET BACK AT CHEATERS ON WINDOWS Y BACKGAMMON.

MAKE THEM QUIT THE GAME YOU ARE PLAYING.

HERE IS HOW I ACCOMPLISH THIS.

SAY I GET A ROLL OF 1-6.

I PLACE THE 1 AND THEN TAKE IT BACK, I REPLACE THE 6 AND TAKE IT BACK AND REPEAT THE MOVE CONTINOUSLY FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS.

I WAIT TWO MINUTES AND REPEAT THIS FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTEWS.

THE OPPONANT GETS TIED AND LEAVES. I PLAY THE COMPUTER AND WIN.

M$ Backgammon is just icing on the cake to make the OS look good. Heck, they can't even optimize the data transfer - two bytes of information and on a slow internet connection the dice go into indefinite roll, even while Google searches are possible. Makes me wonder what data transfer's actually going on?

I also have had it with the cheaters, especially when they say they "are punishing you" for you cheating. I will not play with anyone again with a score over 2200. I have gotten myself up to almost 2300 without cheating, but the odds are if the score is that high, then that person is a cheater.

Does anyone know how to contact Microsoft regarding this stall bug cheating??

I am tired of getting the stall cheat that then times the wrong person out (me).

I used to think it was important to stay away from 2300 and above players, but had the same problem from a 2200 player. Pathetic that I play it at all... pathetic that they cheat... :)

This might help me break my habit... I don't like the cheating. I would like to know how to stop it.

This thread includes two different versions of backgammon - the Zone website, and the Windows package.
1.No question the Zone version has cheaters! Not convinced there are cheat codes, none i have found anyway, could be programmer privilage (employees sitting at their computers all day with nothing to do but refine their skill).
2.Windows Internet Backgammon does not appear to have cheats. However, the dice are NOT random, favoring players especially in certain situations (as discussed above). The benefit to this is If your oppenent or you do not quit, then games/matches that seem like a sure defeat can easily become a narrow victory.
It is just a game.
For best experience, and to refine your skill, try some of the many other online sites.

I found an amazing way to avoid the cheaters in backgammon with almost 100% success. It's a bit unusual these days, but here goes. Turn off your computer and play on a real board with a real person across from you. Start a local club with such enthusiast. Play for actual money if you are so inclined. Computers and they're evil little hackers will ALWAYS find a way to cheat you. You'll meet new people, have a social life, maybe even meet the love of your life.

Never played at zone.com but I have played all over the world for the past 30 years and for the past few with the xp online version although I still would only consider myself a novice. Sometimes I win sometimes I lose. Unfortunately, even in face to face playing there are cheaters....I knew a greek guy who could tell me the exact dice he would role every time....that was without the use of 'cups' to shake the die with I do admit.

Lets face it, in real time ie face to face as someone else has said it's a game of chance/skill 50/50 when you've played and understood the way to play....

However, with online playing and the so called random number generator it is not!!!

Firstly, the numbers generated are not exactly random, I've experienced the same die coming up at the same time in games after similar moves have been made, in fact I can almost tell which numbers will be rolled depending on where individual blots are placed at any given time in the game.

Secondly, I do think there is a way of 'hacking' the die rolls although believe it to be more likely as someone else has said it is dependent on where you place the cursor over the return button, but I also believe that a little program like backgammon is, the code would therefore be easily manipulated anyway.

Thirdly, quitters are just bad losers and probably do the same in real life.....resigning isn't such a big deal especially when there's no cash at stake (and personally I don't play for money anyway) although doubling can and does add pressure on an opponent on or offline, it is most un-sportingly done when your opponent is already bearing off or has blots on the bar, although in my opinion it's not un-sporting to double when you have blot's on the bar yourself.....Online however, and more so than offline its easier to quit and find someone to beat....un-productive though as it won't make you a better player and in some cases I'm sure we've all at least thought about it if we felt that the game was hacked.

It makes absolutely no sense to say that europeans or others do it more often than americans or asians, there's bad loser's amongst us all, and if you see others playing in the real world, maybe it will transpire that we're all as bad as one another when we're on a losing streak...

NO matter how disgusted i am with the blatant cheating i could never bring myself to use em even as revenge against a known cheater(s). Anyone whom is ignorant enough to believe their aren't people who design programs to run in the background ( or circumvent backgammon game programming) to enable cheating deserves what that they get. Then again ignorace is bliss!

The official answer is that "Its a game. If you can't tolerate losing for whatever reason...then you are mentally weak. Games are about learning to handle both winning and losing by proxy in situations that DO NOT MATTER. How the win or loss occurs is not really relevant. Case closed."

No seriously its a free game in the sense air is free to breathe (yes it takes calories to move your lungs but ehy you can choose to stop use resources you already own if you want to).

Thus with no finance return and no negative impacts on paying software services...well is it any surprise your complaints fall on deaf ears. Try a different program.

Just a few moments ago (2/23/2012 924 EST) I played with a person whose nic is visitor_2_earth who did this slick little trick and I don't know how it works, but I had just played a game right before him where the person did the same thing. This is what happened: they rolled and move the first dice then hit the undo button, they did this many time in quick succession, and I couldn't time thiem out. The next thing I know the red letters come up on my chat window that say It's your move. I then got timed out. Does anyone know what this is all about. I just want to play a nice game of backgammon, with not rigged die and good players. I want players that know you can't win every game and understand that losing is just part of playing. Is that too much to ask for?
Thanks for letting me vent.

I've encounters cheaters, too, who appear to have the ability to manipulate the dice. There is no way that a guy can roll 4 double sixes in a row.....
I'd already gotten all my stones in "home" and were bearing them off. I had 5 stones "off" when he doubled me....and then ran 4 double sixes in a row. Sorry....that's happened TOO many times and I don't believe it's random. Somehow, these guys have figured out how to cheat using the dice to their advantage.
If you cheat....you didn't really win, you idiots!

I would like to add my remarks and observations for the benefit of all MSN backgammon players .

I've been playing the game for more than 35 years with a real board and real players and a virtual board in several sites . In real games , I've been playing with money on many occasions , not so with internet sites . My experience shows that MSN is one of the best as far as the Flash layout is concerned , but also one of the worst as far as software errors and hack security is concerned . Randomness is as good as the Random Number Generator they utilize .Manipulating a game ,as claimed many times by frustrated players, is possible but I have no proof . Curious doubles do occur but then I got the benefit of them in several of my games. Multiple doubles (2-3 by my opponent interspersed with 2-3 of mine) are possible and more frequent in the MSN game but rare in a real game. I've noticed also the alarming frequency of many curious events . For example, your opponent has 2-3 pieces hit and only one free opening to come out with say 5-5 etc., but then his roll is 5-5 , he comes out and hits one of your pieces waiting outside . So what you do to protect yourself ? You make sure to place your outside pieces out of harm's way when he rolls a 5-5 , since you have seen this event happening frequently . Many players do not pay attention to this detail , even experienced players . So you can claim that 5-5 is rigged since its frequency is rare in a real game , but what can you say about your lack of attention in protecting your pieces against such an outcome ?

There is a serious software error in bearoff.Other sites don't have it . For example you roll a 5-2 during bearoff and you have one piece at number 6 and empty space in your 5 and 4 positions . You can legally move your 6 piece 2 positions to your right and pick it up as a 5 . MSN software many times will not allow you to do it . Instead , it will force you to play it as 5(moving 5 places to your right your piece at position 6) and then play your 2 with whatever you have available . This is a serious software flaw , sufficient to make you lose the game .

As far as hacking is concerned , I can testify that yes indeed there is manipulation of timers to throw you out of the game ( opponent moving his pieces back and forth to make you stall) .Flash software is notorious for its many hacking possibilities . Many readers of this forum expressed what is common sense : avoid players with 2200 ranking with say a 100 games .I may do injustice to the few who are not hackers and have a high ranking due to skill/luck or both, but it's the only sensible thing to do , since MSN does not seem willing to correct this situation. I remember a case when a hacker (named Shadow something) had a few thousand games and zero losses ! That was during the old MSN days when a data base was available for all players with their rankings,win/loss mumbers etc.

Contemporary ones are Laminar_Khan,RoyalBlue95,EVER_GREEN,
KillerBees,SSkyTrainN,Scooter,Gorgon9,Gramma_Jayne, AmazedLawyer9,EarthDog,TertianSeven0 etc. , all of them timer manipulators .

You can also skip MSN and play the game in another free site . An excellent site is GameColony.com , GameEmpire, BackgammonMasters.com and others . Avoid POGO .I haven't noticed any hacking, certainly no timer manipulation, and randomness behaves more realistically .

Do remember though that this game has a lot of luck involved (and strategy)and in a bad day you can lose a lot of points, hackers or no hackers .You can assess yourself as a good player only if your longterm win/loss ratio is above 55-60% or (if you play with money) by your net wins .Short term even a 12 year old can beat you repeatedly . Also, avoid doubling the cube early in the game ,unless you are losing 4-1 etc. and it's all the same to you . After all, if you are so good , why double early and risk suffering an upset by the unfair future results of the random MSN dice ? There is always another match to fight and get some points .This is sound advice unfortunately not heeded by most players .

Best Regards/DIONYSOSFOX

Definitely rigged. I am close to 80% win ratio; however, would be higher. I just "lost" a game that I was winning due to a network error. My proof that this is rigged:

1) I have never had a network error when I was losing; figure 15 against and none for.

2) Try this one... When an opponent loses and leave, try to get a lock and block out the computer inside. How many times will you have 4 men off, one open square and the machine rolls doubles on the open blot?

3) Lately, I have had locks, six men deep with one back; I double and my opponent accepts. I have to get by the single pair but roll those particular doubles and have to break up my lock; that's 1 in 36. The next roll I get is a 1 in 18 to leave my man open; I'm hit and lose. Ok, this can happen any time right? Why is it happening on every series I am playing now? I am really good at backgammon so I am still winning 75% even with games like this.

4) Lately, when I get knocked off, I need to have at least 4 open men to come on more than 50% of the time. Two open men; takes on average 3 rolls to come on. One open man, an average of 5 rolls. Three open men, 2 rolls.

I played today with somebody called 'payton7144'. I finally won but his rolls were no close to what one could expect. He was a horrible player - this is why I won - and seemed to me that he stopped manipulating the dice after I warned him that i was going to report him. All sorts of doubles and board reentries when ever he wanted them.

All in all, the dice rolls do not seem normal with other players too

Some interesting answers here. I have noticed many times that a player who is losing, starts to win with the most unlikely series of dice rolls. It is noticeable that this "turn of luck" is usually proceeded with long pauses before the dice throw. Another clue is when players leave single men in ridiculous situations and it is impossible to hit them, not just once but over several goes. What is the point? It is just a game

If you know the rules of probability and play Microsoft Backgammon Zone.com, according to those probabilities you get during the game, I am about 185yrs old!!!
I have been playing backgammon for over 30yrs now, since age of 155, and have noticed some interesting things about MS Backgammon.
1) When you double the game, there is a 50% chance of rolling a double afterwards and also winning the game. This matter is so obvious and well know amongst players that when they are behind they double the game or even double the game from the beginning, hence increasin their chance of winning.
2) I am able to predict the next roll of dice by a margin of 60-70% now and one time I managed to call the right dice 12 times consecutively! You will get the hang of it after playing for a few months, 10-20 games a day. You can find the pattern.
3) When killing two men, there is a higher probability of the roll to be a double for landing the men. So if you're not too behind, don't kill two men!!!
4) At times it is observed that if the opponent doesn't play the right move, the dice will repeat itself until the opponent gets it!! This has happened several times and up to four rolls totaling the same number.
5) If you can predict the dice more than four times in a game, then you will know the game is rigged or perhaps you can mentally force to the dice to roll whatever you please. :)
6) Personally, I have not experienced any of the mentioned cheats like dice change, moving backwards, etc., but experiece the MS rigged dice on a daily basis if you play at least 10 times.

There is definitly a glitch in the MSN software that hackers are using to win games which is well reported on some of these comments

However many of the comments about the number of doubles rolled consectively supposedly proving either:

1. The game has been hacked by a cheater or
2. MSN dice are not random is just nonsense posted either by fools or bad losers. A anlaysis of probability will tell you this.

There is a 1 in 6 probability in rolling a double, 1 in 36 of twice in a row, 1 in 216 of 3 in a row and 1 in 1296 of four in a row.

Based on these probabilities it is likely that you will get 3 doubles in a row every match and four doubles in a row every few matches.

yeah all i can say about online backgammon is that if ur partner doubles and u manage to fall ahead and double back and win the game 4-0, then leave! there is 90% percent chance of losing the next game and 50% chance of losing the entire match 4-5! so quit while ur ahead. :)

FYI... MS Backgammon was not written by microsoft but by a group of MIT students during a class project. As a part of the development team, I was responsible for the animation progamming of the game.
One day I complained to Larry that my coding was being hindered by the random factor for certain rolls to occur in order to watch fluid pip
movement. His suggestion was to include a program sequence to generate exact rolls. So a list of muti-keystroke entrees were formulated and written into the program to provide a desired roll
result. This answered the immediate problem and the game soon went into the final stages of development. There was a mandated time frame
for completion that was narrowly made at the expense of limited debugging and failure to extract unneeded code. The project concluded when it was submitted to MS and quickly sold.
Each member of the team received $540 for his and her part in the creation. Through the years, updates and/or "fixes" have been offered by various members of the original team but for some unknown reason MS will not update the software. It never occured to us that the capability to control exact rolls would be discovered or that the program glitches could generate a "win". None of this was intentional and speaking for all of the team a heartfelt apology is given to all.

MS backgammon random dice rolls are really flawed. I win most of the timr. Don't know my rank since I choose not to play the machine after opponents quit when they aren't ahead.

It's gotten to a point that, in a tight game, I quite regularly can predict the dice. Not sure of percentages, but it happens so frequently that it can't be 'random'. Try playing in real life. You will get a totally different idea of random. In fact, I would say that it often goes beyone 'bad random' to 'intentional' in order to achieve the this behavior.

It was good fun, but now feel like I am wasting my time. One assumes luck is part of the game. WHen that is removed, well...just not the same is it?

I think that someone outside the game play is controlling the dice. I have had several doubles in a row followed by my opponent having the same on and off through a game. Statistice predicts that this number of doubles just shouldn't happen for either player. I feel that someone outside of the game is messing around with the dice throwing.

Notwithstanding that particular CON, cheating at backgammon, controlling and manipulating dice throws, stalling, etc., continues by MSN technicians and private crooked players, just to get undeserved high ratings.
DOWN WITH dishonesty and CROOKS!

Until a few days ago, it was the same for CHESS. It was always 31 players playing "Standard" games and 111 players in "Rated" games. It's harder to find decent Chess players on MSN these days. I can never find anyone wiling to play 5 minute games. Years ago, when MSN had a different community-like setup where people can post messages to one and all and watch and comment on games, thousands of people would be online MSN at any one time. MSN's lack of foresight and disregard for the views of its patrons will ultimately lead to downfall.

Come on everybody! We must ALL do something about this disgraceful, unethical situation: Sick, perverted MSN manipulators and crooked cheaters, stallers, "time-outers",
vulgar bad losers, etc., are continuing to spoil the fun for us honest backgammon players.

No doubt about it! MSN is infested with all sorts of unethical, manipulative crooks and cheaters.

When I started to play at zone/msn/backgammon, thanks to my
skill and expertise, my rating rose to over 1900 within a
few weeks. Then I started to encounter these crooked cheaters one after another, and my rating rapidly fell
back to about 1600! Every time I was ahead, the cheaters
timed me out when it was actually THEIR turn to roll!

MSN's crooked manipulators have conspired against me and
deliberately keep my rating low. I have been a highly
successful and acclaimed backgammon master player for
over 20 years. COME ON GUYS! DON'T JUST SIT THERE! SAY
SOMETHING! Am I the only one?

And YOU, readers, explain why you don't react to this shameful, disgraceful situation? We must all unite and insist on corrective measures.

Isn't there, at least, a courageous lawyer among us who can
advise whether or not this kind of dishonesty constitutes a crime that can be pursued by formal legal action? Are there no professional, influential journalists who can investigate

Finally, doesn't Microsoft give a damn about its professional prestige, reputation and credibility? No pride? No integrity? No honor?

Tom Price: I've never personally proposed that. However, what was being proposed is what many states do that says you have to have health coverage. You have to have it. You pick it for yourself and for your family. Not the specific items within it. So for example you could pick a closed panel HMO, you could pick a PPO, you could pick a Health Savings Account, or a flexible savings account, or you could self-insure. Those kinds of things. Instead what the president and the Democrats did is say you've got to buy coverage and this is exactly what it must be so that everything else becomes essentially illegal in this country. That's where the constitutional challenge is.

I have just started playing MSN backgammon under two names. I have been playing for close to 40 years and usually win. What I have found is that I beat players with higher ratings that me, over 1950 ALL THE TIME. Players at about the same level, about 50/50.

Based on close to 40 years of playing, based on the skill level of my opponents at 1850, I should win 80-90% of the games and close to 100% of the series; yet, I am at 50%. I have noticed strange sequence of rolls on a continuous basis such as far more than average doubles for both players. If I win the 1st game, my opponent will get by far, the better rolls in the 2nd and so on.

Like I said, after close to 40 years and many games for money, you get a feel for the game at the very least. I am an engineer and am very good with numbers. Based on the 75 games I have played on MSN backgammon, I would bet real money it is rigged.

My explanation.... nothing is free in this world. MSN backgammon has lots of advertisement around the periphery of the game. Who do you think would be more likely to buy stuff, a newbe like me or someone that has played 2000 games with an 1850 rating? Think about it, someone that has been playing 2000 games is hooked and more likely to purchase stuff that is being advertised. Someone like me, an engineer, will keep trying to find a pattern in the game; I don't think that people cheat, more like the game itself is a cheat.

I would love to play a so called highly rated 1900 in MSN backgammon with real dice and maybe real money!

Damn you, MSN! Damn You! Shame on you! Your indifference
and disregard concerning thousands of users' complaints is
disgraceful and unpardonable. Your silence and inaction is
cowardly. You NEVER acknowledge or respond to any of the
"feedback" that you receive from dissatisfied, frustrated,
irritated, exasperated users. WHY?

MSN Backgammon site is infested with cheaters and hackers
(stalling, reverse time-out, disconnection, dice manipulation, vulgar bad losers, unethical dishonest crooks,
and all other kinds of nasty, distasteful, low-class weirdos. Why can't you improve your software to prevent
all this unpleasant unnecessary criminality? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Doesn't MSN care about its professional reputation, integrity and credibility? Your backgammon software is
defective and obsolete, just like some of your technicians.

STOP ALL THIS CHEATING! YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE!

SHAME ON YOU! PUT YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER. Don't just sit there,
DO SOMETHING !!!!!

Further to above, MSN, your needle is stuck AGAIN!
When your MSN/ZONE Backgammon window opens, we read exactly
the same identical statistics EVERY time:

"310 people are playing Backgammon right now"

and:
"51,991 players on line"

Get your house in order, MSN! Have you no professional
pride or integrity? When are you going to overhaul your
obsolete defective software into 21st Century standards?
Don't just sit there , DO SOMETHING! Also, for once have
the courage to respond!

And, don't forget you MUST eradicate, eliminate and delete
ALL the cheaters and CHEATING from your Backgammon games.
