My IBM ThinkPad has a Black Screen.?

About 2 weeks ago, I tried to log onto my IBM ThinkPad and all I have is a Black Screen. I am running Windows 200 Professional. After seeing the black screen, I connected the laptop to another monitor and everything works find through the monitor and still is today. So I just have a black screen on the laptop but I am actually able to use the laptop as long as it is connected to a monitor. Any ideas?

I had similar problem on a TP A20p. Was caused by a bad connection, I believe, between the main case and the screen. Remedy: applying pressure on the space between the top key row and the screen hinge. For the A20p somewhat to the right of the power button. Pressure needed to be applied right when pushing power button. Apply pressure until the screen lights up. Or it doesn't and then reboot. This is hit and miss. Opened the case and tried to fix on a permanent basis: did not work. Could also be the backlight itself.

Make sure the memory is seated correctly also.

I've just resolved a blank screen and a bios beep that went 1-1-1 1-1-1 1 (7 short beeps) by seating the memory correctly.

This was an IBM a60m.

The screen can be switched between laptop screen only, Laptop screen + extra monitor, and extra monitor only. I suspect it has been switched to the extra monitor only mode. Hold the function key down and press F7.

Hi guys,
mine has a black screen and it blinks? I try reseatting the RAM but it only takes up one boot and the next boot it goes back to the same problem.
I questioned this if it is something to do wif my video card since the video card is rated 1mb also shown by the rating of lowest base score.

help is needed this point in time...

I have an old T42 - one day I had no screen (I'm not a tech person)and my daughter took it to her tech company where she works. I kept seeing "start in safe mode etc" and that didn't work.

The person testing said I needed a new screen. I decided to attach another monitor which worked great. A couple nights ago I took just the laptop into my bedroon to listen to a cd. and shut down when I finished. Next day I brought the laptop back and started up and the screen filled in. The one thing I did back when I attached the extra monitor was add on Norton antivirus as it was free from cable company. I had been using a free version of another program Trend. Today was the fist time I had started up without the monitor attached and the newer antivirus....
